Charles Arthur Gumbs Laid To Rest

Charles Arthur Gumbs, better known as Charlie Gumbs was laid to rest today at the Springfield cemetery. The funeral service of the late Charles Gumbs was arranged by the Easter Benevolent Society. Having the honor of being the first central defender for the Garden Hotspurs he was also one of the founding members of our club which will be celebrating it’s 50th Anniversary in 2012.

Charlie was known as a solid and no nonsense defender and he struck fear into any opposing striker during his time playing for the club, a player of Charlie’s ability will be a welcoming sight to football in these times for the club and a not so welcoming sight in the eyes of opponents. Past and present players of the club showed up to attend the funeral service of Charlie. The club will like to send condolences out to the entire family of Mr. Gumbs, may his sould rest in peace.
